Why the survey, not the installation, is the thing to book first

A loft insulation survey is a free, no-obligation visit — usually forty-five minutes to an hour — where an assessor checks current depth, ventilation, any signs of damp or existing condensation staining on the rafters, and whether the loft has enough clear access for a team to work safely. British Gas, Effective Home, and most local installers registered under the government's Great British Insulation Scheme offer this survey at no cost, but the appointment itself is what gets scarce once the weather turns.
