Empty it completely

Keep it fresh
Linen stored damp goes musty, so make sure everything is bone dry before it goes back. A bar of soap or a lavender bag tucked among the sheets keeps them smelling clean, and leaving a little air space stops that shut-in smell.
Use the warm shelf wisely
If the cupboard houses the hot water tank, keep the things you want aired, like towels and everyday bedding, nearest the warmth, and store the rarely used spare duvet up top. A tidy airing cupboard is a small, daily pleasure all year.
